Our featured Macy's Florida representative is Diana Gomez. Diana Gomez is Purchasing Business Partner for Macy's non-retail departments.

What are you responsible for?
I’m constantly searching for vendors that offer the products/services we need at the best possible value. I’m also actively involved in our company’s Supplier Diversity Effort.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The fact that there's never a dull moment! I purchase everything from promotional items to store fixtures to landscaping services so every new project is a wonderful learning experience. I also appreciate the opportunity of meeting and working with such a diverse group of people, both internally and externally. |

How long have you worked with Macy's Florida?
About a year and a half.

How can WBEs get noticed by Macy's Florida?
By attending our Annual Diversity Vendor Networking Events or by registering on our website (see below). Great references are always a plus. We also utilize the WBENC Link database to search for WBEs. Once I start a business relationship with a new vendor, their service and reliability are top priorities along with the value of their products/service.

How do you become a vendor/supplier to Macy's Florida?
WBEs can register for our Supplier Diversity Program on our website at www.macysinc.com/diversity/supplier. All Macy's Inc. divisions have access to this database. Including references is a must.

What is the spend for Macy's Florida with women-owned businesses?
I do not have that exact figure, but at Macy's Florida, we’re always looking for ways to increase those numbers.

What trends do you see?
Electronic bidding events. We find that they allow vendors to interact with the market and provide them with the opportunity to quote more projects than they normally would.
