Executive Health and Wealth Institute

Tell us a little bit about Executive Health and Wealth Institute.
The Executive Health & Wealth Institute, Inc. is a WBENC-certified international consulting firm based in Miami, Florida. Our experts provide consulting services, executive coaching, corporate advice, keynotes, training workshops, seminars and consensus building meetings, assisting executives and corporations in Individual and Organizational Health & Wealth.

What made you go into this business?
In my practice as a medical doctor, many executives and entrepreneurs were visiting me with complaints of burn-out, illness, depression, and anxiety. Many had accumulated a tremendous amount of wealth but were unhappy with the way their lives were evolving. I realized the health system was not addressing their needs in full force. Many were visiting coaches in futile attempts to recover economically, while remaining unhappy. Given my background both as a medical doctor as well as in business, I decided to create a company that would successfully address both needs on an individual as well as on an organizational level: to maximize productivity and performance while maximizing health and well being.

What has been the worst or the biggest obstacle you've faced or had to overcome?
The biggest challenge I have overcome is also my biggest triumph. Listening to people around me say things like: "if you come from a split family, you will never fully succeed in life", or "you cannot have a successful career if you have a family." Had I "listened" to pre-set limitations, I wouldn't have been able to succeed in doing the things that I have been able to do. At twenty-two I had my first child, and then at twenty-four I had my second child. At the end of that same year I graduated with a two year old and a nine month old as a medical doctor, with honors. Looking around, I could see others' faces of surprise as if something didn't fit into their pre-set minds. This trait of "going against the current" has always been a predominant factor in the way that I have led my life.

What has been your biggest triumph?
Overcoming my biggest obstacle has been my biggest triumph.  I realized that having overcome those difficulties has only made me stronger and to a much deeper level, more understanding of how challenges can be reversed and utilized into a much more positive outcome where everyone wins.   I think that that is one thing that characterizes us an an entrepreneur.

What is the best advice you've ever received?
I have learned so much and I have been inspired by so many during my path: from teachers and mentors, patients and clients, parents and children, that it is very difficult for me to narrow a "best advice" down to one. One of my mentors, Dr. Ken Gaarder taught me how important it is to start and end up on a positive note. I've modeled his style in everything that I do. Dr. Bill Daniels taught me how empathy and compassion are a strong guiding force even with the most violent folks. I have learned patience from being a mother, and I have learned to bring my family first as a priority as I juggled family and career.

Is there anyone who inspired you and why?
I've been inspired by so many people:  my teachers, mentors, my family, my kids and so many others.

What is the best book you ever read and would recommend?
My favorite business book is The E-Myth Revisited, by Michael Gerber. I would recommend it to every business person and entrepreneur.

What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is: "If you don't settle for anything but the best, you'll very often get it," a modified from the "real" quote by W. Somerset Maugham: "It's a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it."

What are your goals now and where do you see yourself going?
My goal is to become "the go-to-person" for anyone who is seeking for ultimate personal and professional well-being. I have a strong desire to inspire others to find their true talents and maximize their full potential in each and every aspect of their lives. I see myself as a guide: an author, speaker, mentor of many folks around the world, in helping them discover The Power of Wellbeing.

How has being a member of the WBDC and WBENC helped you?

Being a member of the WBDC and WBENC has helped me tremendously particularly in meeting other women with courage, strength, power, and similar interests. The opportunity to network with like-minded women as well as with companies has been of significant value, particularly because the higher we go, the lonelier we are in this exciting career path.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for daring to live a fulfilling life in each and every aspect of it and in inspiring others to do the same. I once attended a conference in which I was able to show a wide variety of skills. An attendee, a successful and powerful lady approached me and asked me if I had ever been an astronaut with NASA. I was surprised at the question and inquired why she had asked me this. She simply responded: "You have done so many things in life, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if you had gone to the moon." This fully resonated with my intention: daring to do it all, and be remembered from daring to build a better world.
