PRESIDENT'S NOTE
Hello and welcome to the March 09 issue of WomensBusiness.Info. March is women’s history month and there are some interesting events happening around the state to celebrate women. We will forward those to you via email.
The WBENC Salute is around the corner! This year the Salute is in conjunction with a Summit which begins on March 25, will include panels, educational workshops and industry meetings designed for WBEs and WBENC’s Corporate Members. The Summit is free of charge and will precede the black-tie Salute dinner and awards program on the evening of Thursday, March 26. At the Salute, WBENC will honor the 2009 Women's Business Enterprise Stars as well as recognize America's Top Corporations for WBEs for 2008.This is a golden opportunity for you to meet and network with national corporate sponsors of WBENC and national WBEs. You can also take advantage of the many resources and workshops being offered. Click here for details.
Our very own Florida WBE, Emily McHugh, is one of the 2009 winners of the Make Mine a Million Contest. She will be given the financial, technical and technological assistance to reach this million dollar goal. We will be documenting her progress every month in our newsletter in a special section, “Make Mine a Million Journal”. Please follow her story along with us.
Have you subscribed to the Purple Pages on line directory? Click here for more info about this great marketing tool. A twelve-month subscription is $250. Please contact Darlene Hester at darlenehester@womensbusiness.info if you have questions.
The WBDC is pitching survival stories to local media with a “women are inventive small business owners” twist. We are looking for examples of how you have cut costs; negotiated contracts; established strategic alliances etc that we can use as we promote your businesses to the media. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Happy reading,
