PostcardMania
Tell us a little bit about PostcardMania. What made you go into this business? I was looking to promote my then graphic design company using postcards (which was only available to a niche market). During the process, I had received bad service and a not-so-good product and I thought, “I could do this better”, and so PostcardMania was born! What has been the worst or the biggest obstacle you’ve faced or had to overcome? The obstacle for me is always money! I’ve been approached so many times by investors and it would have been faster and easier to grow with some funding – we’ve always grown totally organically with money earned. But I never wanted to relinquish any control and I’m glad I stuck it out. What had been your biggest triumph? I’m proud of a lot. But my boys came out great!!! I sacrificed a lot to build a business while they were growing up. I’m so proud to say that they are both incredible, ethical, hard working, lovely young men that consider me their best friend. That is no easy accomplishment in this world and time with teenagers. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? I have no formal education. Without the Hubbard Management System I would be lost. This system has helped me with every area of business from hiring to management to marketing and finance. Is there anyone who inspired you and why? My dad, Bernard Lebowitz, for one… he had a business and retired at 56. He worked hard and was just a great dad… also my mom, Sheila Lebowitz, - she was one of those mom’s that just made me feel I could do anything I put my mind to. What is the best book you ever read and would recommend? Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health. This book explains why we behave in certain ways… understanding the human mind helped me overcome obstacles I was actually creating myself… very interesting and enlightening. Made love people more and appreciate people more and just have more compassion for others. What is your favorite quote? “Never regret yesterday, life is in you today and you make your tomorrow” - L. Ron Hubbard How has being a member of the WBDC and WBENC helped you? Opened my eyes to a whole universe – diversity opportunity – I never knew about! Still waiting to land an order from one of the giants out there... we will! What do you want to be remembered for? Loving people. Really caring about them. Helping them. How does someone get in contact with you at PostcardMania? They can email me at joy.gendusa@postcardmania.com. I answer all of my emails! You can also visit me at www.postcardmania.com
