Have You Re-Certified? by Ana Maria Manresa As you start this new and challenging year, you will be considering cuts in many areas of your business. These difficult economic times have led many small business owners to cut back costs. One important recommendation I would like to make as you consider what to invest your limited resources in is re-certifying your company. Now more than ever, it is vital to gain access to new business through established relationships and new opportunities. Your WBENC Certification is the most valuable of these resource networks providing you access to leading national corporations, government agencies and women business owners across the country. This is the best time to take advantage of the opportunities available through the WBDC to gain access to companies and individuals wanting to do business with women enterprises. Have you taken advantage of all the resources we have to offer? Did you participate in our many Corporate Close-Up events last year? Did you apply for the many Matchmaker Meetings we organized? Did you contact our office for assistance and advise on potential contract opportunities? Were you matched up with one of our WBE Ambassadors? Did you attend the many events held in 2009:
Remember that building relationships require your attendance and participation. With all the events we have scheduled for this year, there are more than ample opportunities for our corporate sponsors to get to know you personally. And more importantly, there are opportunities for you to become involved in the planning process of our events giving you more access to our corporate contacts. Another great opportunity is networking with your fellow WBEs. Have you used the WBENCLink database to network to other WBEs? We have scheduled training sessions every month. Our WBEs are an elite collection of women business owners with over half generating revenues over a million dollars. As you can see, there are many opportunities to gain greater exposure for your business. And as always, we are available to assist you in any way we can. Please take a moment to review our products and services, and let us know if there's anything we can do for you.
